Worthington Industries Launches SmartLid™, an Innovative Propane Heating Tank Monitoring Solution

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Oct. 2, 2020 – Worthington Industries, Inc. (NYSE: WOR) announced the launch of SmartLid™—an innovative fuel tank monitoring solution designed to make tank monitoring implementation easier and more reliable for propane marketers.

“Tank monitors can have a positive impact on propane delivery businesses, but the installation process creates some real challenges for technicians,” said Bobby Weinberg, LPG Product Director for Worthington Industries. “We met with technicians in the field to understand what their biggest pain points were with implementing monitoring systems and designed the SmartLid with their input.”

SmartLid was developed in partnership with Montreal-based Otodata, a leader in tank monitoring technology. Its intuitive design ensures consistent and accurate placement of the monitor for optimal signal strength and enables faster installations, with minimal training, while increasing productivity by eliminating avoidable time in the field. SmartLid is equipped with Otodata’s dual SIM and LTE technology, enabling a broader and more reliable cellular coverage for accurate readings. It includes the longest battery life in the industry and a user-friendly app delivering real-time gas level data.  SmartLid, an extension of Worthington’s 200 and 420-pound heating tanks, is made from strong Polypropylene material designed to conceal and protect all components from external factors.
