For “Safety Stand Downs,” we press pause on our day-to-day activities to focus solely on workplace safety. While the educational themes and content vary across the Company, the purpose is the same—ensuring the safety of people.
On the Shop Floor or in the Office
Safety Stand Downs are one element of our LiveSafe Companywide culture—meaning they take place at our manufacturing facilities as well as our corporate headquarters and international locations. These events play a significant role in our safety culture because they focus on injury prevention.
In our facilities, Stand Downs occur as pre-planned events and on an as-needed basis for unique circumstances. In our corporate locations, content aligns with the intent of what happens on the shop floor but is tailored to hazards common in an office setting, such as ergonomic best practices to electrical safety, travel safeguards and emergency response.
By raising awareness of daily risks through activities such as Safety Stand Downs, the Company has reduced its injury rate by more than 95% over the past two decades.
