Worthington Enterprises prioritizes biodiversity. In our U.S. locations we engage employees in various activities to empower them to be part of the solution. This past April, employees in our manufacturing facilities and corporate offices celebrated Earth Week by participating in eco-friendly events unique to each location. These included planting trees, cleaning up parks and launching a multi-faceted compost, recycling and waste management program.
During the summer months, employees had the opportunity to join a group hike once a week in a nearby metro park, encouraging an appreciation for nature and personal wellness. In May, we celebrated National Bike to Work week that encouraged employees to learn more about the environmental and health benefits of biking.
Ragasco, our Raufoss, Norway-based business, champions biodiversity as well as other aspects of sustainability through operations and product innovation. This is reflected in their most recent EcoVadis bronze medal, placing them in the top 35% of companies engaging in responsible business practices.
In Portugal, our Amtrol-Alfa business developed a reforestation plan that identified optimal areas for planting trees based on space and environmental conditions. Leveraging this plan, employees planted fruit trees on the campus in designated green zones to enhance shade. The Portugal team also assisted a local school for individuals with disabilities with organic composting.
At Ragasco, sustainability has been embedded in our core strategy for many years. It’s motivating to get recognition through EcoVadis, and it confirms that we’re on the right track.
