Practicing Environmental Excellence
OUR IMPACT | PROCESS & PLANET

Throughout fiscal year 2025, Worthington Enterprises developed a plan to more deeply engage manufacturing locations in efforts toward a more sustainable future. As an evolution of the Company’s longstanding Green Star Awards initiative, the Environmental Excellence program was unveiled at the start of fiscal year 2026 in June. It features four core pillars and specific metrics for each:

  • Reduce GHG emissions by 60% by FY 2034
  • Conserve water use by 40% by FY 2040
  • Divert landfill waste to achieve zero waste by FY 2040
  • Lead the completion of at least one project per year that benefits the environment (project must be independent of the first three targets)
Site-Specific Approach to Sustainability

The Lead Environmental Excellence pillar is unique as it provides each facility with the ability to approach sustainability through a site-specific lens, determining which projects can best help their community thrive. For example, employees at our Portugal location took initiative developing a project to increase soil stabilization. The facility is located near the Ave River, so planting trees along the bank helps prevent erosion and fortifies the natural landscape of the area.

Each manufacturing location will establish its own activities to achieve environmental excellence. At the end of each fiscal year, facilities will earn bronze, silver, gold or platinum status depending on how many of the four pillars their location has achieved, with progress being cumulative year over year.
