Ragasco, a business of Worthington Enterprises, took a leadership role in environmental accountability with the publication of three Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) certified by EPD-Norway. These declarations reflect the Company’s dedication to transparency and sustainability through its widely used composite LPG cylinders, including the 24.5-liter Ragasco cylinder and the innovative 18.2-liter Linktra® Smart cylinder.
An EPD is a rigorous, third-party verified document that offers comprehensive insights into a product’s environmental footprint throughout its life cycle—from raw material extraction to end-of-life disposal or recycling. Based on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, EPDs follow globally recognized standards, ensuring accuracy, comparability and trust.
Ragasco’s LCA was developed in partnership with Asplan Viak, a Norwegian consultancy specializing in sustainability. The assessment complies with EN 15804:2012 + A2 2019 and ISO 14040 standards, while the resulting EPDs align with ISO 14025:2010. These were third-party verified and approved for publication by EPD-Norway, a national program that promotes reliable environmental data and lists over 1,600 certified EPDs from more than 190 companies.
The findings of the LCA highlight that 53% of a cylinder’s environmental impact occurs during its use phase—common for long-lasting, reusable products. The production stage contributes 30%, largely because of raw material processing and end-of-life waste handling accounts for 17% of total emissions.
By securing the EPD certification for its Ragasco products, Worthington Enterprises underscores its commitment to delivering environmentally responsible products and empowering customers to make informed, sustainable choices.
